20,000 LGK Treatments at Samsung Medical Center, Korea
Professor Jung Il Lee and the hospital's radiosurgery team reach a treatment milestone using Leksell Gamma Knife® radiosurgery.
On Aug 11, 2023, Samsung Medical Gamma Knife Center achieved a milestone of 20,000 patients treated with Leksell Gamma Knife® radiosurgery.
Samsung’s radiosurgery program opened in December 2001 and since then the Center has used three Leksell Gamma Knife models. Today the program treats with two Leksell Gamma Knife® ICON™.
The hospital’s radiosurgery team has actively supported and contributed to Gamma Knife’s clinical introduction in the region. Professor Jung Il Lee, a neurosurgeon and pioneer in Korean Leksell Gamma Knife radiosurgery, supports international collaboration through the exchange of information, ideas, and LGK Society activities. As part of that dedication, he is the new chairman of the Asian Leksell Gamma Knife Society.
